Please note that I understand OPTIMAL K9 will set up my dog(s) for success and demonstrate trainings prior to returning dog to (handler) and will also give me the resources to upkeep said training. However, it is up to me to keep up the practices and foundation set by OPTIMAL K9 because dogs behaviors depend on the leadership set in the household.
Please keep in mind that your dog is here because it's behaviors on a regular basis was considered unacceptable.
This program is like "doggy bootcamp" your dog will not be babied or coddled & will be held to a standard that is appropriate for the dogs age & temperament.
Optimal K9 trainers will send updates once every week depending on what stage the dog is in the learning process.
photos & videos will be sent through snapchat add "optimalk9" and send a message with your dog's name to ensure you will get photos & videos of your dog.
If you are wanting updates more frequently, please reach out to Benjamin (CEO) and this can be arranged for an additional charge.
Optimal K9 operates on a balanced training approach this means we use positive reinforcement to motivate the dog, but we also will provide fair aversive consequences if the dog is not complying to the behavior it has learned. Optimal K9 primarily uses hand feeding as a motivator to teach new behaviors if your dog is uncomfortable or not used to working for food this could cause the dog to drop in weight. Being that Optimal k9 primary reinforcement method is food. Weight- loss during the board is extremely likely for dogs who are over-weight, picky eaters, have bad associations with food or bad eating habits. If you are uncomfortable with the possibility of your dog losing 5-15 pounds, then this program may not be right for you.
(Protocol for not eating is discussed in waiver labeled Release Of Liability Form )
PLEASE NOTE that we are trusting your judgement on the program that is needed for your dog(s). Therefore if it becomes apparent that your dog(s) will need another program based on the dogs behavior we will inform you and have to address changes to the purchased package before we continue training your dog(s). This can include biting, lunging or barking (people, dogs, etc.) destructive behavior (digging , chewing on unsafe object, etc.) and other unpredictable behaviors that was not communicated prior to boarding said dog(s).
If your dog is unable to continue boarding due to a violation of Optimal K9 boarding procedures. Your dog will be recommended in-home sessions, to ensure that the goals of your dog are still met.
*OPTIMAL K9 IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR A RELAPSE IN DOGS BEHAVIOR / TRAINING*
