This form is intended to prepare participants and their families for the variety of conditions encountered during Denali Discovery Camp. It is important that all participants are physically and mentally ready for each day of
camp. Other than appropriate gear to keep warm and dry, the most important items to remember to pack each
day are your good attitude, sharp mind, and curiosity about the natural world! In general, campers should
come to camp rested, fed, and ready to explore and play! Please read these pages with your child and sign where indicated.
Behavior Expectations:
Denali Discovery Camp is a group experience and its success is dependent upon cooperation and teamwork
between the participants. Please have your child initial here after reading the following behavior expectations:
- I will show respect for my instructors by listening to them and following our group’s rules.
- I will respect my fellow campers by listening to them, cooperating with the group, and not engaging in
any activity that might hurt someone or myself.
- I will respect myself by coming to camp prepared each day - ready to hike and explore with my fellow
campers!
Environmental Responsibility:
Denali Discovery Camp is a unique opportunity. This special ecosystem provides many with the opportunity
to experience wilderness firsthand. Generations before us have worked to preserve this landscape for us, it is
now our turn to enjoy it and preserve it for future visitors. I have read and understand the principles of Leave No
Trace (included in Program Information Packet) and will do my best to follow and uphold them throughout Denali Discovery Camp.
A Note for Parents - Denali Discovery Camp days can be long and active and are fully outdoors, which can be over-stimulating. If
your child has a tendency to act out or exhibits behaviors we should be aware of, we would appreciate knowing
more about them to prepare camp staff and ensure a successful camp experience for your child. Please tell us
about behaviors your child may exhibit during camp, along with any strategies or vocabulary you use at home or
school that help your child remain engaged and cope with over-stimulating experiences. Any information shared
will remain confidential
I have read and agree to follow this Code of Conduct, and to accept responsibility for my actions. I understand
that a violation of this Code of Conduct will result in disciplinary action, which may include removal from the
program.
